Olivia’s Place exists to support mums and dads at any stage of pregnancy - from learning you are pregnant, throughout your pregnancy and birth and then through your baby’s first 12 months.

Olivia's Place delivers three separate but complementary programs within the Gippsland area - Family Support Program, Material Aid Program and Community Projects.

Our Family Support Program focuses on socially and emotionally supporting expectant or new parents through the highs and lows of welcoming a baby.  This program also incorporates parenting preparation education, confidence building, early screening and referral for common issues faced and community connection. You can read below, at the end of this page, about how to get referred into this program for the support you need.

Our Material Aid Program equips parents with those items that may be hard to source for reasons of financial hardship, but that are necessary to support a family to get their best start in life and the new baby a strong foundation for safe development.  This program is accessed through referral and intake into our Family Support Program (it doesn't run independently).

The team at Olivia's Place are involved in many aspects of the community by way of Community Projects.  Visit our Community page to read more about what we're up to.

During Pregnancy:

Expecting a baby? If you are experiencing any variety of needs during any stage of your pregnancy, from first learning of your pregnancy right through to childbirth, we are here to support you. Many new parents feel unprepared for what lies ahead whether they are excitedly or nervously welcoming their little one. Olivia’s Place can help you to feel more prepared and confident in yourself as the parent of a new baby.  Whether it's helping you to navigate all the information available, equip you with the skills to care for your infant, or help you prepare emotionally for the next steps ahead we would love to be a part of your village.

During Early Parenting:

Thanks to antenatal classes, many parents feel prepared for childbirth and labour, but more often than not feel less prepared for what comes next. This is normal, but that doesn’t mean you have to face your parenting challenges alone. Olivia’s Place can help you learn more about your babies needs, and can help you navigate the wealth of information available to help guide you in your parenting journey. We can also let you know of the many social supports and services that exist in our local area available to provide you with ongoing support.

Services Provided:

Services are provided by Olivia’s Place according to your identified needs through a confidential appointment with one of our Family Support Workers at the Centre in Warragul. We perform an intake assessment over the phone or in person, taking the time to learn about your situation, and work with you to identify your needs and discuss how we can help. After your intake we will arrange to provide you with services we can offer directly, or refer you to a local service able to meet your determined area of need.

  • Confidential supports that are tailored to your individual situation
  • Practical and material supports to meet your needs such as nursery items, maternity and baby clothing, and much more
  • Social and emotional supports that aim to help reduce the social isolation often experienced by new parents We can also help you locate and access services able to provide ongoing support if needed
  • Pregnancy loss, support through the difficult time after losing a baby
  • Parenting education and preparation when welcoming a new baby
  • Baby change and feeding facilities in our parent room - available during opening hours.

If you feel you'd benefit from chatting with one of our team, contact us here, or via phone or email.

For the Dads:

We’re not here for just the mums. It can be hard to find a balance between home and work when you’re welcoming a new little one. It can also be difficult to manage the changing dynamics to new and existing relationships when a new baby is on the way or has already arrived. We believe Dads play an important role not just in the lives of their children, but also in the ongoing relationship with their child’s mum whether that involves parenting together or separately, and we have plenty of resources and information available to help dads settle into their new role and find fulfillment.

To receive services of Olivia's Place you may refer yourself or you may be referred by another agency or service provider.

To refer yourself, pop into the Centre on Queen St, phone us, email us or send us a message via Facebook to get the ball rolling.

Professional Referrals:

An average of 54% of our clients are referred by other organisations involved in their support network.  The services we provide families assist in improving outcomes for parents and their babies, as well as reducing social isolation.  We screen all clients for at risk situations, such as perinatal depression or domestic violence, and refer to other services that specialize in the field.

All services provided by Olivia's Place are free of charge to families, and we are willing and able to support families from any socioeconomic demographic.  We don't require that clients hold a concession card in order to access services, and there are no other prerequisites for families you wish to refer.

If you believe you have a client who would benefit from our Family Support Program, please contact us to register as a referrer and be provided with our online supported referral link - 03 5622 1022 or email our admin team (admin @oliviasplace.org.au)
