Olivia's Place is coordinated locally by a committee consisting of passionate, dedicated men and women with valuable professional backgrounds as well as personal experience as parents and grandparents.
Carmel Riley (President)
BSpPath(Hons), GC Family Therapy
Carmel has worked and volunteered in clinical service provision and health administration/program leadership roles across the Gippsland Region since 2004. Carmel has worked closely with a wide diversity of health and community services and has extensive experience in governance, strategic planning, service development, procurement, risk management and contract management. Following 2 and ½ years in Western Australia, Carmel, together with her husband John, has recently returned to Warragul to raise their three young children; Angus (7), Archie (5) and Matilda (3). As a parent and health professional, Carmel is passionate about providing parents and children with the best possible start to the early years and strongly supports the vision of Olivia’s Place.
CJ Rovers (Vice-President)
CJ is passionate about supporting families through their pregnancy and early parenting journey with a holistic and compassionate approach. She grew up in West Gippsland, then moved to Melbourne and began to study nursing. After feeling a pull to focus on the social and emotional aspects of caring, she went on to complete her Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) at ACU in 2012. Having two children of her own and personal experience with postnatal depression, CJ recognises the great need for accessible support for those facing parenting challenges. She aspires to increase her capacity to offer this support both educationally and experientially. CJ joined the Olivia’s Place team soon after the birth of her second child. Holistic assessment, adult education program development and delivery, and volunteer coordination are all included in CJ’s role as Centre Coordinator and Client Consultant. She currently works face to face with clients, identifying their needs and assisting them to make their own best decisions to reach their personal and parenting best.
Kylie Sharp (Secretary)
BN, BAppSc (Psychology), GCN (Critical Care)
Kylie has worked as a registered Nurse for the last 12 years and has completed a post graduate certificate in Critical Care Nursing. In addition to this, Kylie has worked for the Department of Human Services within the Gippsland Region. Her experiences include client case management, providing health care to the community, leading small teams, grant applications as well as extensive procedural documentation. As the parent of 3 young children Kylie has involved herself in her child's Kinder Committee, rolling out a health promotion initiative. Kylie is excited to be a part of the Olivia's Place Committee and supporting its vision.
Shannon Davies (Grants Officer)
Shannon was born and bred in Gippsland; so when she and her husband considered where to raise their young family, moving home was a logical choice. In 2010 they relocated to West Gippsland, Trafalgar and then Drouin in 2011. In the ensuing six years Shannon has immersed herself in a number of community groups including; Ficifolia Festival, Drouin Lights Up, Drouin Business Group as well as a range of other groups or causes. Shannon has extensive experience working for and with Local Government; particularly in the areas of town planning, strategic planning and governance. Aside from volunteering with the community and raising a young family, Shannon runs SD Planning a Town Planning business. Shannon feels privileged to be part of the Olivia’s Place Committee and looks forward to securing grants that will result in funding ongoing operations of the organisation into the future.
Andrew Miklosvary (Treasurer)
BCom, ICAA GradDipCA
Andrew and his family moved from Melbourne to Gippsland 7 years ago and instantly fell in love with the diverse community and beautiful surrounds. As a Chartered Accountant, Andrew is passionate about business and the role enterprise plays in the region. He is a devoted father to his two gorgeous girls, Lucy and Winnie and strongly supports the efforts of Olivia’s Place in providing families of all diversities and backgrounds a helping start to parenthood.
David Cann (Committee Member)
Dave Cann brings a wealth of passion and expertise to Olivia's Place as a business owner, community leader and also as a loving father to two young daughters. He has been involved and recognised in the Warragul business community for almost 20 years. He currently owns and operates String + Salt and children's boutique The Colours are Brighter with his wife Michelle. Over his time in business he has been a longstanding committee member and sometime president of the Warragul Business Group, is a Gippsland Community Leadership Program Alumni and serves on the Bona Vista Primary School Council. He is know for big picture thinking, successful advocacy and lobbying of Local and State government as well as helping to deliver creative events and marketing campaigns for the Warragul community including key contributions to Shop Warragul, Snowfest and Christmasfest. In his spare time he loves to hang out with his daughters Poppy and April, build over-engineered home projects, throw mini music festivals on the family's farm and stay up all night thinking about how he can change the world.
Robyn Bayley (Committee Member)
DipT (Early Childhood)
Robyn is a mother of 3 adult children. She lives and helps run a farm with her husband and son in the Trafalgar area. With 40 years of experience, Robyn has extensive experience in the area of early childhood and has worked as a kindergarten teacher. She has volunteered in the Warragul and Latrobe Valley region for 8 years. Robyn’s professional experience has involved the education of young children and adults, early intervention and family support. She became a volunteer at Olivia’s Place early 2015 and enjoys being part of such a professional, vibrant group of people passionate about supporting families of young children.
Kirsten Finger (Committee Member)
BN, GDipN (Emerg), DAPS
Kirsten is one of the co-founders of Olivia's Place and continues to be involved, overseeing the Centre and the team. Kirsten is a Registered Nurse with qualifications specialising in Emergency and Intensive Care Nursing. She is also a qualified ALS Paramedic, currently employed with Ambulance Victoria and works on shift each week in Warragul. Kirsten, her husband Julian and their 3 children Liam, Zoe and Joshua are all actively involved in many aspects of our community having lived in Drouin since 2010.
Julian Finger (Committee Member)
Julian grew up in the Drouin area and has worked as a Registered Nurse at West Gippsland Hospital Emergency Department for over 6 years. He has advanced qualifications specialising in emergency and intensive nursing care, having completed a Master’s Degree and working several years at Monash Clayton. Julian is now completing his second Master’s Degree, specialising in Advanced Nursing Practice and is working towards endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner in Emergency. He is married to Kirsten, and is a very dedicated and involved father to their three children – Liam, Zoe and Joshua. He is very passionate about seeing supports in place for dads in our community, and recognises the value and importance of the role of a dad to his children.
